You will want to avoid highly processed foods because they contain trans fats. Foods that contain high trans fat are responsible for putting you at risk for heart disease. Trans fats makes the amount of HDL (good cholesterol) in your body decrease and increases LDL (bad cholesterol).

The buzz about coupons keeps on growing! You can turn on the TV and see people managing to get baskets full of food for just pennies on the dollar. However, have you noticed how their purchases are usually not nutritious choices? There are usually coupons available for snacks and processed foods that contain high amounts of fat.

It is important to consume protein daily. Proteins work to build and maintain your muscles, skin, organs and blood. They also help with energy metabolism and your cell processes. They help the body’s immune system fight illness and disease. Fish, legumes, tofu, and lean meat are all great protein sources.

You will not want to assume that what you are eating is good for you. At first glance seven grain bread may seem to be healthy but the label will reveal there actually are no whole grains in it. Be sure to review the ingredients list, and not depend on the lure of the attractive packaging.

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should make nutrition a major priority. A woman who is pregnant needs plenty of protein, you should do this even if you do not want to. Try blending eggs into your morning smoothy for more protein. Eggs are great for pregnant women since their whites only have 15 calories, three grams of protein and no fat. Pasteurized eggs must be used to reduce the risk of contracting salmonella.

An important component any healthy diet is riboflavin. We need it to release the energy found in food. It also helps metabolize different nutrients and transports iron to those parts of the body that need it. Some sources of riboflavin include whole grains and dairy products.

There are many different nutritional plans out there to help you eat a healthier diet. The world of nutrition has a little something for everyone, but what works for one person may not for another. The advice in this article should help you develop your own nutritional plan.

L-arginine, or simply arginine, is a particular type of essential amino acid that is needed in the production of nitric oxide inside the body. This amino acid is broken down into L-proline, which is considered as a basic component of collagen that serves as the building block of the fibrotic extracellular matrix.

This essential amino acid is involved in several aspects of the human biochemisty, such as immune modulation, hormonal secretion and ammonia detoxification. In addition to this, arginine is as well considered as a primary precursor to the production of nitric oxide, a major constituent of endothelial-derived factor for relaxation, an endogenous messenger compound that is primarily involved in a number of different endothelium-dependent physiological impacts taking place in the cardiovascular system. Inside the body, L-ornithine is a primary metabolite of this essential amino acid, which is synthesized as a by-product for the impact of the arginase enzyme on the amino acid arginine.

Are you considering using L-arginine supplements? Then it is essential that you understand precisely the amount of it you must take and how often you must take it. L-arginine is naturally produced inside the body, although, if for a particular reason, you end up with a deficiency on L-arginine, then you might need to consume L-arginine supplement so as to enjoy the optimum results with L-arginine supplementation.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is still on the process of establishing a suggested dosage for this amino acid, majority of people consume about 2 to 20 grams of L-arginine every day. This amino acid comes in cream, powder and capsule form and the typical capsule of L-arginine is composed of about 2 to 3 grams of the amino acid. The suggested dosage of this amino acid will have to be based on the particular health condition that you are trying to support.

The following is a list of different health conditions and their respective suggested dosage for L-arginine:

Cancer – based on recent studies, the proper dosage for L-arginine to be taken by individuals suffering from cancer is 10 grams, thrice everyday for about 3 consecutive days.

Diabetic Foot Ulcers – patients suffering from this health condition must topically apply 4 grams of L-arginine cream two times daily.

Coronary heart ailment – the proper dose for people who are suffering from coronary heart ailments is 6 grams taken every day. This primarily means taking a single capsule thrice every day.

Congestive failure of the heart – about 2 to 7 grams is the recommended dose of L-arginine against congestive heart failure.

Angina – according to studies, people who are suffering from angina must take about 3 to 6 grams of arginine, thrice every day.

Impotence or erectile dysfunction – the recommended dosage for this condition is 5 grams taken every day. If a person makes use of a lesser dose, they may not be able to enjoy the optimum effects of L-arginine.

If you opt to start taking supplements of arginine, remember to start off by taking a low dose for about 3 to 4 weeks and observe if you are able to obtain the desired outcomes. Also, it is always best to consult your physician before taking any health supplements and get an expert opinion on how L-arginine can help and support you through these health conditions.

L-arginine or simply arginine is perceived to be a semi-important amino acid, acquired from the foods that we eat and is needed for the synthesis of protein inside the body. This particular type of amino acid aids the body in eliminating ammonia, aids in the production of important substances such as glucose, L-proline, L-glutamate and creatine. This amino acid is an essential pre-curser to the biological gas, nitric oxide, which is needed for the relaxation of the blood vessels and for intra-cellular interaction.

This amino acid is being generated inside the kidneys and also to a few amounts, in the liver. Coconut, oats, cereal, gelatin, raisins, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, brazil nuts, walnuts, poultry, meat and dairy products are some of the food sources of this semi-essential amino acid. As a whole, plant-based protein has higher L-arginine contents as compared with animal-derived proteins.

While a majority of us have sufficient levels of arginine present in the body, there are some particular conditions that could deplete the supply of arginine in the body such as burns, severe wounds, infections and many others. Under these conditions, it is very important to consume l-arginine supplements or boost the amount of both animal and plant protein levels in your everyday diet.

L-Arginine is needed for a wide array of different functions in the body; These include aiding the kidneys in waste secretion, keeping immune system strong, rapid wound healing and maintaining hormonal balance. L-arginine has also been touted for its functions in promoting the wellness of the heart.

The following are some of the other L-arginine benefits and how supplementation of it could aid you:

L-arginine injections can treat deficiencies in growth hormones such as pituitary adenoma, gigantism and many others.

Arginine is also known to enhance the functions of the immune system and protein functions in individuals who have been suffering from infections or severe burns.

Supplementation of arginine can largely lower the severity of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. In addition to this, arginine can also aid in the management of other complications that are associated with the condition such as nerve damage and heart illnesses.

L-arginine is also known to aid greatly in the process of wound healing and boosting the rate of recovery in individuals who have been under surgeries against cancer. For a more rapid process of healing of external wounds, creams and powders made of arginine can also be topically applied to the affected areas.

The synthesis of growth hormones can also be stimulated by L-arginine such as IGF and testosterone. As an individual grows older, the synthesis of such hormones diminishes, resulting to aging and formation of wrinkles. Taking arginine supplements aids in keeping the elasticity of the skin providing it with a more vibrant and younger appearance.

L-arginine, when administered intravenously can boost the flow of blood in patients suffering from limb ischemia, a health condition that is brought about by improper blood flow in the legs and arms.

Arginine, when used in conjunction with ibuprofen can lessen migraine headaches and give fast relief.

Experts have recently found out that diabetes mellitus produces excessive competition for L-arginine, a type of amino acid, which aids in making the blood vessels to relax. This essential amino acid is metabolized in the body by the enzyme called arginase to the compound, urea, which in turn aids the body to effectively eliminate toxic substances that is caused by the proteins from the foods that we consume.

According to medical experts, people suffering from diabetes tend to have a lot of arginase enzyme activity, which only implies that they tend to utilize more amounts of the amino acid L-arginine. In addition to this, this also implies that very few amounts of this amino acid is available to aid the enzyme, nitric oxide synthase to produce nitric oxide, the potent compound in vasodilatation, helping the blood vessels to relax more.

Also, it was found as well, that L-citrulline, another type of amino acid, and also statins, compounds that are known to lessen blood cholesterol, prevent the elevation of the enzyme arginase activity, thereby bringing back the normal dilation capabilities in animal models suffering from a case of type 1 diabetes mellitus. The truth of the matter is that, the amino acid L-citrulline is recyclable to L-arginine.

The outcomes of recent research may also explain why supplements of L-arginine that were marketed as treatment for heart failure, chest pain, hypertension and many others may not work on a long term basis. Tests are still being conducted however since there have been many positive reported affects from people that religiously use this supplement for its many reported health benefits.

However, patients who utilize and rely on L-arginine supplements for the sole purpose of prevention of heart attack and/or hypertension should exercise caution. Nothing should be a replacement for good life choices such as exercise and diet. There isn’t anything that can be taken as a supplement that should be considered more important than a good diet when it comes to prevention of a heart attack.

According to health experts, the elevated activity of the arginase enzyme in diabetes mellitus may restrain other therapeutic approaches that were recommended for initial endothelial dysfunction like oral supplementation of L-arginine. Dietary supplementation of L-arginine however, has been indicated to exert protective functions in particular clinical settings.

In addition to this, experts say that a temporary course of L-arginine administered intravenously may give short-term improvement to the tone of the blood vessel. However, majority of arginine that is directly taken goes directly to the liver, and consequently being metabolized instead of going to the bloodstream where it can trigger blood vessel relaxation.

Aside from assisting the body to transform toxic substances to urea that could be entirely eliminated from the body system, the enzyme arginase as well aids in the formation of collagen and proliferation of cells although excessive amounts can be detrimental. While L-arginine appears to exert many health benefits, it’s a supplement and a supplement is just that. It’s meant to be used alongside other healthy choices in one’s daily regime, such as diet and exercise. It should be never be used to replace anything or give one an excuse to exercise poor judgment in other areas of their life.

L-arginine, also often referred to as simply arginine, is a type of a non-essential amino acid that the human body is incapable of naturally synthesizing and therefore, should be consumed through foods and intake of supplements. Food items that contain L-arginine include chocolates, grapes, soy, seeds, raisins, nuts and whole wheat. L-arginine supplements come in the form of liquid, capsule, powder or cream form. Amino acids play an essential function in the production of protein inside the body. L-arginine serves a major function in various cellular activities such as immune system enhancement, detoxification of the liver, reduction of fats and growth of the muscle.

L-arginine has increasingly becoming a popular staple when it comes to bodybuilding supplements since it has the ability to boost the flow of blood to the muscles, thereby promoting growth. This amino acid is rapidly transformed into nitric oxide, which is a crucial compound in the process called vasodilatation or the dilation of the blood vessels to transport more oxygen and boost blood flow. It is also capable of increasing the human growth hormone levels by triggering its secretion from the pituary gland. In addition to this, L-arginine can also largely assist in achieving the “ripped” look coveted by majority of bodybuilders by lessening the retention of water under the skin.

Most bodybuilders like to consume about 3 to 5 grams of L-arginine supplements as an integral part of their pre-workout routine. This is because the increase in the flow of blood in the muscles that this amino acid is capable of providing will bring about more rapid recovery of the muscle tissues that were damaged during the strenuous workout session and hastens the growth of the muscles. There are a number of bodybuilders who advocate L-arginine as an integral part of the post-workout routine as well in order to further enhance the flow of blood and permit excellent delivery mechanisms of the nutrients to the muscle tissues. Taking L-arginine supplements prior to going to bed can also boost the production of growth hormones while you are asleep.

In addition to its bodybuilding benefits, L-arginine can also aid in other areas of wellness as well. For example, this amino acid is capable of improving the immune system, which can lessen the risk of developing possible injuries associated with intense workouts and also aid in the body’s natural process of healing after strenuous weightlifting. Because of the enhanced oxygen found in the blood, the levels of energy are as well enhanced allowing for a lot more endurance during workouts. In addition to this, L-arginine could also be utilized in treating heart diseases and high blood pressure.

Just as like other things, excessive intake of l-arginine could do more harm than good. In fact, L-arginine even has the possibility to be dangerous to health. While it has no serious adverse effects, there have been some reports that the over consumption of arginine whether in the form of a pill or powder, can lead to weakness, diarrhea and nausea. Excessive doses in some researches indicated an increase in the growth of cancer cells.

Taking L-arginine supplements has become popular due to its use in body building and injury recovery. However, most people already have a normal to high level of L-arginine found in their body due to its presence in many common protein rich foods. Though the benefits of L-arginine are more researched and proven than many dietary supplements, over dosing can be dangerous.

L-arginine is commonly found in cream, powder, and pill form. The cream is most often used to treat male, and some female, sexual conditions such as erectile dysfunction. It has been much more thoroughly researched for males though, and many of its believed uses in female sexual conditions have been disproven. All forms are L-arginine are relatively cheap, ranging from 5-20 dollars, and produced by many of the big supplement companies such as Vitamin Shoppe and Natrol. The pill and powder form are taken for many reasons including the treatment and prevention of migraines, congestive heart failure, recovery form kidney surgery, bladder inflammation, and leg cramps due to blocked arteries.

L-Arginine Healing Benefits

Most of the research of L-arginine has been done in its benefits for injury and surgery recovery. When taken with other supplements and drugs such as ribonucleic acid and cyclosporine (a drug used after kidney transplants), it is shown to decrease recovery time. This is due to L-arginine’s role in the synthesis of the human growth hormone (HGH) and its role is disposing the waste product ammonia. HGH increases muscle and tissue growth the body needs to repair injuries. L-arginine’s ability to relax the smooth muscle and increase blood flow in the injured area allows more HGH to arrive at the site of the injury as well as other important healing agents such as clotting platelets. Though it is used in many types of injury prevention, L-arginine has been proven most effective in bone tissue regeneration. It is also used by athletes to decrease recovery time between workouts; however no conclusive evidence of this has been discovered.

An over dosing of L-arginine can cause several damaging side effects the body. L-arginine is shown to increase stomach acid which can lead to increased heart burn or indigestion. There is also evidence that the herpes virus uses L-arginine to multiply so it should not be used if you have the disease. Many people take L-arginine to ease the symptoms of coronary artery disease, such as chest pain. While it is proven that L-arginine will help with the symptoms and increase ability to exercise, the common belief that is cures coronary artery disease has been disproven in studies.

Because L-arginine lowers blood pressure and raises insulin levels, it can be dangerous when taken by diabetics and people with already low blood pressure. This can lead to dizzy spells and nausea as well as fainting.

Though L-arginine supplements are popular because of its versatility and natural production by the body, over dosing can lead to many complications. Depending on what it is being taken for, people should never take more than 15 grams a day and prolonged use without breaks is not suggested.

L-Arginine is a variation of amino acids belonging to the group Arginine. The “L” form of Arginine is one of the 20 most common amino acids found in the body. Used for protein synthesis, L-arginine plays a role in the synthesis of several important substances in the body including, nitric oxide, growth hormone, and insulin.

L-arginine is most commonly found in foods rich in animal and plant proteins; such as fish, nuts, red meat, poultry, and dairy products. Because it is found naturally in so many common foods, it is rare to find people with low levels of L-arginine. However, it is also commonly marketed as a natural dietary supplement and used by many in the prevention and treatment of diseases and injuries, as well as by body builders and athletes. It is even found in levels of as high as eight percent in many types of toothpaste for its proposed ability to reduce dental hypersensitivity.

What Does L-Arginine Do?

Amino acids are commonly known as the building blocks of proteins. L-arginine is synthesized into several different types of proteins. The most common of these is nitric oxide (NO). Nitric oxide is also sold in supplement form because of its ability to lower blood pressure and increase blood flow to the muscles. The cells on the inner lining of the blood vessels use spikes in nitric oxide to signal the surrounding smooth muscle to relax, widening the blood vessels. Studies have shown that L-arginine supplements increase the nitric oxide production, making it useful for treating circulatory conditions such as erectile dysfunction, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure.

L-arginine supplements are also taken by body builders and athletes. Like most supplements, this is how taking L-arginine has gained popularity in the past few years. By lowering blood pressure and increasing blood flow to the muscles, L-arginine allows athletes to work out longer as well as increase muscle endurance and lower the heart rate. L-arginine is also believed to play a role in the synthesis of the body’s growth hormone. This allows body builders to carry more muscle than normal.

L-arginine also stimulates the production of the hormone insulin, which is used to regulate the body’s blood sugar. Some diabetic patients take L-arginine supplements to help regulate their insulin production. However, studies have found that this can be dangerous and people with diabetes should simply try a diet rich in foods containing L-arginine.

Other ways the body uses L-arginine is the disposal of ammonia, a waste product from cellular respiration. This is another reason L-arginine supplements are attractive to athletes, decreasing the time needed to recover between workouts. This trait is also utilized by surgery patients and burn victims to reduce recovery time and prevent infection.

Because of its multi-faceted benefits to the body, L-arginine has become a popular dietary supplement in athletes, surgery patients, and people looking to prevent conditions like erectile dysfunction and high blood pressure. However, since L-arginine is found in so many foods, it is easy to maintain a high level of the amino acid without supplements and over dosing could be dangerous.
